I came across this video produced by the International Kiteboarding Association during the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Melbourne. With the Miami edition of the ISAF Sailing World Cup set to complete either today or tomorrow it got me wondering why US Sailing decided to drop Kiteboard Racing from the Miami Event? Prior to the ISAF decision in November to cut Kiteboard Racing from the Olympics the event was set to include Kiteboard Racing. Unfortunately US Sailing for some unknown reason decided to not follow with Sail Melbourne and ditched Kiteboard Racing.
As someone who had pre registered for the Miami event and had informed sponsors of my intent to compete I found it frustrating that Kiteboard Racing was pulled. What was more disappointing was that US Sailing never informed me that the discipline had been pulled from the event. It seems to me that it would have been the right thing to do but unfortunately that was not the case.
In the future it will be interesting to see how many other ISAF Sailing World Cup events include Kiteboard Racing.
